It is part of the popular "Absolute Music" series and was issued as a double-LP (vinyl), CD, and cassette.

The album compiles the biggest hits of the time and features a total of 24 tracks on the vinyl edition.
The cover features images of several of the contributing artists, including Roxette, Patti Smith, and Richard Marx.
